What is the price
of this emotion we call love?
So far this phantom
has cost me my speech,
my freedom of expression,
my sanity.
The spectre of tales soon forgot
has misplaced my anger,
causes me to hate everything else,
mostly myself.
I shied away from that
I had before
because she wanted more than I would give.
Now I find it reversed
and I want to give
more than she'll recieve.
He offered what she wanted,
meaningless lust.
Emotionless action.
Consequences to betray my defences.
Like the walls of Jericho
my heart fell,
but like the horn of destruction,
I find myself entranced by the sound of my pain
from those sweet lips.
The soul crushing delights
that accompany the "I love you's" from your mouth.
So I lay myself defenceless
at your searing love.
I give you the tatters of my soul
to burn inside my chest.
